Dr. Gail Hoff-Carmona, Owner and Director of Los Alamos Dressage Center, now operating out of Canada Larga Ranch in Ventura, California, is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze medalist, a USEF Senior "S" Dressage Judge, a Registered "R" Dressage Sport Horse Breeding Judge and an FEI Grand Prix level trainer, clinician, coach, and retired competitor.

Gail's unique ability to quickly detect and correct training/showing problems, helps you to move through your issues, and gain a better understanding of how best to work with the biomechanics of your horse. Gail works with all levels of riders and horses, from beginner to Grand Prix. Her focus is on balance, harmony, and performance through systematic steps based on the classical training scale as applied to each individual horse and rider. This has allowed her to train several horses to Grand Prix and to develop several riders to earn their USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

As a breeder of Swedish Warmblood (SWB) horses, Gail has bred 3 of the highest scoring licensed SWB stallions in North America, 2 diploma SWB mares and the highest scoring “double diploma” SWB mare (received diplomas for both dressage and jumping ability) in North America. Her horses have also won numerous championships both in hand and in dressage competition at the prestigious “Dressage At Devon” shows as well as winning numerous USDF Horse of the Year Awards at all levels. Since she also believes in the benefits of cross training, several of her horses have also excelled in the open jumper arena (through Grand Prix) and two of them won the International Jumper Futurity as youngsters. Gail also currently works closely with some jumper trainers on the Florida circuit to improve their horses’ jumping performances. She has successfully applied dressage principles and techniques to help solve various show jumping performance issues for these teams.

As an educator, Gail together with Bo Jenå, director of dressage at Flyinge, the National Stud of Sweden, produced a video, How to Train and Present Horses In-Hand and Free Jumping . Thus, Gail also offers specialized training for showing sport horses in-hand and training in advanced long reining techniques including the movements of Grand Prix dressage in long reins.

Dressage Today has published many articles by Gail including: “The Secret To Correct Contact,” “Exercises for Suppleness”, “Dressage Simplified” and several editions of “Ask The Experts.”   Another article, “ The ABC’s of Dressage” is due out soon in 2012.

Outside of the horse world Gail is a Ph.D. immunologist who devoted much of her life to the research and development of several medical diagnostics such as the “Mono Test,” a quick diagnostic test for infectious mononucleosis, and immunologic pregnancy tests for people as well as horses. Gail, as owner and director of Los Alamos Dressage Center, received two Proclamation citations from the New Jersey State Assembly and Governor Whitman for civic work done to benefit both the community and equine research at the University of PA School of Veterinary Medicine. She is recorded in Who’s Who, Who's Who of American Women, American Men and Women of Science, Who's Who of Technology Today, American Biographical Institute, International Biographical Center and the National Registry of Who's Who.
